Today we are leaving the Hotel Goverdhan in Fatehpur Sikri to go to see the Taj Mahal in Agra.
I have to type fast because we need to sneak in when the power is on, and hope it doesn't crash before I publish. Carolyn and I have seen temples, mosques, tombs and President's Palaces out the wahzoo. Not too much, just enough in two days' time.
Last night I woke up in the high night, without being able to go back to sleep. We are in a little room with a fan on the ceiling and an air conditioner and free internet...but no power! LOL. ...so last night I woke in a bath of sweat at about 115 degree farenheit. Carolyn slept on a sheet to my left, waking occasionally to blurt out a word or try to steal my sheet...we were both delusional.
Yesterday we bid good-bye to our beloved driver, whose English we could understand about every tenth word. There are cows and water buffalo and monkeys walking past our hotel. We are very rural. Carolyn loves it. She's sitting next to me talking with the hotel manager about water buffalos making provalone cheese. LOL. The hotel manager's name is spelled Saurarh Garg. He is young and cute and loves to socialize with backpackers (as we're parading to be)...
My camera stopped reading my memory card yesterday. We're both praying that if I get a new camera in Agra (home of the Taj Mahal), it will solve my problems, and let us see all the two batteries' worth of pictures leading out to this magnificent villa. Pray that I did not lose my pics. There are too many good ones. Carolyn's camera is still working, and she's a good photographer, so we will try to post some pics tonight. We are staying at the Sheridan, where life should be easy, and power abundant. I am listening to some Hindi music, with the taxi horns in my ears, and the wind blowing into the open air office...Carolyn is getting ready to check to see if we got accepted onto the Aug. 20 train from Agra to Varanasi yet...so she has to get online.
I will get back with you later...Love you!
