That was last night...and this morning we opened a new chapter of our trip on the Ganges again, only in daylight.
As soon as we finished the trip, we had tea, then set off to tour many temples, our favorite of which was Monkey Temple, honoring .... (a cameleon is climbing up the wall next to the computer). Words do not begin to do justice to anything we've seen today...but suffice it to say hundreds of monkeys walked and swang by our feet, lining the path as we headed into a magical temple full of clanging bells, hanging from trees overhead, food-lined walkways, featuring offerings for the gods, and a temple of orange paint, a dab of which wound up between our eyes, as we filed past the "god faces" and crowd of participants in gorgeous saris, elders in orange wraps with 7-foot walking sticks, school children dressed in perfunctory outfits... married women with shiny rings on their toes, wrinkled old women, hunched, eyes twinkling...somewhere in the swirl of multi-colored humanity, a room of drums offered music to chant to...
