Greetings all! We have just finished the first day that seemed like a week in Delhi. We a are staying at the Hyatt and living the life of luxury for one day. I just wrote the most colorful blog, before it crashed, and left me high and dry, so I'll keep this short.
We are heading through Mathura, past Goverdan, and into Fatehpur Sikri tomorrow, despite the notion from today's guide that we are too far off the beaten path.
Both Carolyn and I agreed the highlight of today was careening down the narrow aisles of the bizarres of old Delhi on rickshaws...past the spices, glitter, earrings, saris, and burning incense...in 1/2 hour we inhaled the experience of a lifetime. Carolyn wants to go back. We saw tombs of dead kings, the President's Palace, the Red Fort and the largest mosque in Old Delhi today.
Tomorrow, we land in a culture that is more Hindi our guide says. However, we leave him behind, and head out with a driver on our own frontier...I can't wait... Have to go; the Hyatt charges and arm and a leg for the internet. Free service guaranteed tomorrow when we stay in the ghost town of Fatehpur Sikri.
We both ran out of batteries, so are recharging. COOL pics to follow tomorrow!!!
Love you all!
Jacki
